The Agent's House Bed and Breakfast
At the Agent's House, we provide B&B with a twist - each of our Annexe suites has its own private entrance and prior to your stay we send you a selection of cook and non-cook breakfast options. On arrival you will find the fridge stocked with the necessary ingredients (locally sourced wherever possible) to prepare breakfast in your room. No set time slots or having to be sociable first thing if you don't feel like it, just relax and enjoy! A stone's throw from the River Wye and in the border lands between Herefordshire in the English West Midlands & Powys in Mid-Wales, we are ideally situated as a touring base for getting to know the picturesque Wye Valley (AONB) and beyond. Despite our rural location, we are very fortunate to have a pub, a village store and a pop-up Nepalese/Thai take-away outlet all within a few minutes' walk from our front door. We are less than 5 miles from Hay on Wye, the famous bookshop capital, where you will find a variety of small, individual shops, many eateries & cafes and a Thursday morning market, to name but a few of its attractions. The Hay literary festival is attended by tens of thousands of visitors at the end of May/beginning of June, so if you intend to visit during this period, please book early to avoid disappointment! The cathedral city of Hereford, with its renowned chain library and mappa mundi is approximately 15 miles east of Whitney on Wye and the surrounding area has a number of National Trust properties, cider farms, a black and white village trail and much more. For the energetic, there is a wide range of activities available within easy reach, including a canoe/kayak stop-off point just minutes from the house. This is great walking country with routes along Offa's Dyke, the Herefordshire Trail & Wye Valley walk within striking distance, as well as local trails direct from the house. Hay Bluff, the Black Mountains & Brecon Beacons National Park are also just a short drive away.
